White Dwarf 100
Many moons ago there was a paper boy who saved up his meagre earnings, slaving away 6 days a week in all weathers, accompanied by his trusty collie cross, to buy the latest White Dwarf.
This was early 1988 and White Dwarf 100 was about to be issued. Technically not my first White Dwarf but probably the one that really got me interested in the hobby. Not only was it jam-packed with great articles, colour pictures but also came with a free ‘Eavy Metal poster.
Sadly my happiness was short lived as I idiotically kept the poster in my pocket, lost it at school, and found it burnt with only a small part remaining. Many years later it was one of my first purchases on eBay.
So what does this have to do with the Lost Minis Wiki? Well my addiction to identifying miniatures prompted me to identify the miniatures shown on the poster as well as the Eavy Metal article. Looking for a way to keep a record it made sense to utilise the Lost Minis Wiki. This would also help record when miniatures appeared in GW publications.
Fantastic Immigery
Having been interested in dinosaurs, as most kids are, I had the Airfix Brontosaurus that was the base of The Fighting Dinosaur that appeared on both the cover and the poster. My attempt to replicate did not get much further than adding some tin foil armour before I realised my skills were not up to the task.
The Fighting Dinosaur, along with the other stunning dioramas featured in the Fantastic Immigery article, were the creation of the legendary Michael Immig (see his work here:
The Benbow Workshop). Michael has kindly given his permission for his images to be used on the Lost Minis Wiki.

‘Eavy Metal Poster
The poster had many miniatures, including the unreleased Harrig from the
Citadel Combat Cards, and it got me wondering if I could ID all the miniatures on the poster.
The majority of the miniatures are identified on the
Eavy Metal Poster page on the Lost Minis Wiki.
The Floating Gardens of Bahb-Elonn
The magazine included a Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay scenario called The Floating Gardens of Bahb-Elonn. Although there wasn’t a scenario pack, as with earlier scenarios, many of the characters and monsters could be identified by the artwork or description and are shown
here. The scenario was unusual in that it used Pygmies as the characters (probably wouldn’t be done today).
Eavy Metal - Better Than Inks
Also included was the normal Eavy Metal article by John Blanche which looked at the Citadel Expert Paint Set and the use of inks. As always plenty of miniatures shown including one of only a couple of appearances of an Iron Claw Half Elf Adventurer in publications.
The miniatures are shown on the Lost Minis Wiki White Dwarf 100 page.
Adverts
As the adverts in White Dwarf are covered by
Stuff of Legends there seemed to be little point replicating them on the White Dwarf 100 page so the ranges covered are linked. The exception is the Talisman Timescape miniatures which Steve Casey of
Eldritch Epistles fame had tracked down in
Bryan Ansell’s Collection. A couple of them are shown below.
Every Astronaut should carry an axe.

Indiana?
As if that wasn’t enough there was also a 4 page spread advertising Warhammer Siege including the Mighty Fortress. The images of massed forces of Kev Adam’s goblins attacking a handful of defenders behind the Mighty Fortress battlements were something that I could only dream of.

Who discarded the cigarette?
No I haven’t identified every miniature shown in the Warhammer Siege advert (yet).
So that covers the main articles and miniatures and the
Lost Minis Wiki page pulls it all together.
The Lost Minis Wiki is a reference site and we appreciate it anytime that the wiki is linked to as an authority on figure identification. If the wiki has helped you out and you run any sort of blog or other social media page talking about miniatures, or if you are a commercial or auction online seller then please consider linking back to the wiki. It is appreciated.
Similarly if any above by others has been of use please reference SoL, Michael Immig or Steve Casey’s pages as appropriate.
